Taiwan’s two main stainless steelmakers, Yieh United Steel Corp (Yusco) and Tang Eng Iron Works, are both keeping their domestic and export prices for all products unchanged for the rest of the month as the increase in average nickel prices in the first half of September is not significant enough to trigger price adjustments.
“According to our usual practice, we keep the prices unchanged as average nickel prices during 1-15 September didn’t rise as much as the $1,000/t from the August’s average price,” a Yusco official tells Steel Business Briefing.

Since nickel prices show a strong rise trend lately, October’s list prices are very likely to increase if nickel prices keep hovering at current’s levels, the official adds.

As a result, Yusco’s domestic-delivered list price for grade 304 HRC 2B 2mm still remains at TWD 111,000/t ($3,474/t), while for grade 304 CRC 2B 2mm the price is TWD 115,000/t. Export and 400-series prices are unavailable.
Tang Eng’s domestic list price for grade 304 HRC 2B 2mm is TWD 108,000/t ($3,406/t), while the price for 304 CRC 2B 2mm is TWD 112,000/t ($3,533/t). Export and 200-series prices are unavailable, however. 台灣不銹鋼捲 台湾不锈钢卷 stainless steel coil Taiwan
A Tang Eng official says so far, the production level for this month remains at the similar August level and it is still keeping its production at 80% of capacity. “Demand haven’t shown improvements although nickel prices kept rising."
Three-month nickel prices on the London Metal Exchange had risen to $23,275/300 on 16 September, an increase of around $2,000/t from half a month earlier, SBB notes.
